Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity of Cu2O/ZnO/GO Nanocomposites on the Methylene Blue Degradation

This study synthesized nanocomposite photocatalyst materials from a mixture of Cu2O nanoparticles, ZnO and graphene oxide (GO) through coprecipitation hydrothermal methods. aims to determine the optimum composition Cu2O/ZnO/GO nanocomposites in degrading methylene blue. The was two steps: 1 synthesis nanoparticles method preparation GO modified Hummer method. 2 mixtures with form nanocomposites. adsorption-photocatalysis process blue done UV light halogen lamp. characterization results indicated that Cu2O/ZnO ratio 1:2 10% GO, which had specific surface area 35.874 m2 g-1, pore radius 19.073 nm, volume 0.092 cm3 diameter crystalline 31.19 nm. degradation efficiency under for 120 minutes were 82.0%, 86.0%, 91.4%, 79.3% using 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%, respectively. These efficiently degrade textile dye waste.
